Songs In the Key of Cline

Queen of Hillbilly Heaven
By: Freddie Hart

As Recorded By Harold Reynolds

Queen of Hillbilly Heaven
Sing it pretty, Patsy Cline.

To hear Patsy sing was to love her
'Cause every word came straight from the heart
And she treated everyone just like a neighbor
In everybody's life she played a part
She sacrificed a lot to sing in heaven
A husband, two little children, left behind
And we know that they miss you, just awful
'Cause, heaven knows we do, Patsy Cline.

Chorus:
Queen of Hillbilly Heaven
And she was your friend and mine
Queen of Hillbilly Heaven
Sing it pretty, Patsy Cline.

There's a lot of pretty girls in country music
And everyone of them, they sing so fine
But one stands out all by her lonesome
'Cause no one can sing like Patsy Cline
Ask anyone who lives out in the country
Or the big city folks that you meet
"Who sang that pretty song, I Fall To Pieces?"
I'll bet everyone of them will proudly speak.

Repeat Chorus

We miss you darlin', sing it pretty, Patsy Cline.

Remembering Patsy (Missing On A Mountain)
By: Tommy Dee, Leon Hart and Vancie Flowers

As Recorded By Hart and Flowers

Missing on a mountain, coming home from a show
One of our greatest singers, gosh we miss her so.
Missing on a mountain, after a good deed
She'll always be remembered, in our fondest memories.

(Spoken):
All the D.J.'s, after all this time,
Are still playing the songs of Patsy Cline.
It seems like it was just yesterday,
When she would sing her greatest songs,
And the crowds would yell "More!,"
And she would smile and say "Here's the songs you asked for."

From her latest to her greatest, Every song a hit.
And the way she sang Faded Love, We'll never forget

She'll always be remembered, in our fondest memories.

Repeat First Verse

(Spoken):
Everyone remembers that wonderful girl,
The whole world knows her fame.
For just speak the words I Fall To Pieces,
and Patsy Cline, why they're both the same.

Overnight she became a star, or so it seems,
But she worked hard, to realize her dreams.
And when she sang for the last time,
So brightly did her star shine.

And the way she sang her beautiful songs,
Is why we'll always remember Patsy Cline.

She'll always be remembered, in our fondest memories.

This is a reworked version of the song written by Tommy Dee, which he recorded with Bonnie Owens in 1963. The original version pays tribute to Patsy, Cowboy Copas and Hawkshaw Hawkins. New lyrics were crafted, and the song was released as a single in 1981.

Patsy At The Ryman

The Home of Patsy Cline
By: Vic Franco

As Recorded By Vic Franco

In a world that fell to pieces I heard a song of Faded Love.
A tender voice was telling me that I was not alone.
And in my mind she took me in a rapture leading on
Down to the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah Home.

And there I found an old town in Virginia.
By the roadside there I saw the sign.
With tears in my eyes I read the letters.
WINCHESTER THE HOME OF PATSY CLINE.

By her house on old South Kent Street,
where a freight train sang behind,
I walked up to Gaunt's Drug Store, she used to work inside.
I love the friendly people in the town where she was raised.
Her first step on the long road to the Grand Ole Opry stage.

She sang from a higher level and was called there to abide.
And once she said, "Lord, I just sing just like it hurts inside."
And she wasn't Foolin' 'Round,
cause you could hear it now and then.
She was singing just for us, and it all came right from Him.

Now her friends and fans and family each year the day March 5,
Gather by the green grass because True Love survives.
In our minds her voice it echoes once again Sweet Dreams refrain
And it's just a Poor Man's Roses that I place beside your name.

And the Shenandoah Valley, the Blue Ridge Mountains too,
Feel the heaven's cloudy breezes together missing you.
And your voice with such power that some will testify,
Though you're gone your love is Always touching us inside.

And Patsy I know you can hear me,
cause I know that I'm hearing you.
And I know, I've got your pictures, I've got your records,
and He's got you.

In the Shenandoah Valley, see the Blue Ridge Mountains view.
Feel the heaven's cloudy breezes together missing you.
And your voice with such power from the choir of heaven's own.
We heard an Angel singing that was called to be back home.

Memories of Patsy Cline
By: Jim West and Jenny West

As Recorded By Jim and Jenny West

A Poor Girl From Virginia, was born to be a Star.
But, the road on her way up was far from smooth.
Singing for pennies, to a roughhouse barroom crowd,
Were just some of the hard times that she knew.

She never got discouraged, singing country was her love,
To reach the top, was always on her mind.
The sweetest voice this side of heaven,
brought her stardom and fame
You'll be ever in our memories, Patsy Cline.

Chorus:
She'd sing Walking After Midnight,
And the crowded halls went wild.
Then I Fall To Pieces and On Your Mind,
Faded Love and Crazy, followed by Sweet Dreams,
You're so beautiful in memory, Patsy Cline

It was on that Sunday evening, when Patsy and her friends,
Were flying home to Nashville, Tennessee.
Tragedy struck quickly, and four young lives were gone
A world of friends and loved ones left to grieve.

(Spoken):
Now years have passed through history,
Since that sad event took place.
But time can't hide her memory from our minds.

The songs she sang were classics,
They'll live on and on.
You left solid golden memories, Patsy Cline.

Repeat Chorus

You're so beautiful in memory, Patsy Cline

A Portrait

A Sketch By Kelly Small

A Bottle of Wine and Patsy Cline
By: Lindy Gravelle and Tommy Rocco

As Recorded By Marsha Thornton

A bottle of wine and Patsy Cline
And everything's all right.
Time after time, these old friends of mine,
Help me make it through the night

When I'm falling to pieces, going crazy,
With a heart that just won't mend,
A bottle of wine and Patsy Cline,
And, I get by again.

Toss and turn on my pillow,
'Til my eyes fill with tears.
I still feel you so close,
just like you were here.

Night time gets to me,
When that old movie ends,
Then I reach for some comfort,
In a couple of old friends.

Repeat First Two Verses

Oh, a bottle of wine and Patsy Cline,
And, I get by again.

Patsy, We're Still Lovin' You!
By: C.C. Beam and C.L. Jiles

As Recorded By Carolyn Richards

There's a song playin' on the radio
The song and the voice we all know
The singer bares her soul in every line
She's country's special angel, Patsy Cline

Patsy, it's so sad to know you're gone
But you're still in our hearts and in your songs
We often think of you then feel blue
Yes, Patsy, we're still lovin' you!

Chorus:
We still go out Walkin' After Midnight
And Let The Teardrops Fall when we're blue
Sometimes we go Crazy and we Fall To Pieces
Then have Sweet Dreams about you!

The Opry is still going strong
And memories of you still live on
Country Music Hall Of Fame remembers too
Yes, Patsy, we're still lovin' you!

Repeat Chorus

Yes, Patsy, We're Still Lovin' You!
