From my own collection
To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch,
or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Behold the spot where genius
lies,
O, drop a tear when talent dies!
Of tragedy, the mighty chief,
Her power to please surpassed belief.

"My Heart Will Go
On"
by Will Jennings and James Horner

courtesy Frank Driggs
Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you,
That is how I know you go on...
Far across the distance,
And spaces between us,
You have come to show you go on.
Near, far, wherever you are,
I believe that the heart does go on.
Once more, you open the door,
And you're here in my heart,
And my heart will go on and on...

God will not look you over for
medals, degrees or diplomas...

but for scars.

Music is God's gift to man,
The only art of heaven given to earth,
The only art of earth we take to heaven.

From my own collection
God looked around His
garden, and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth, and saw your beautiful face.
He put his arms around you, and lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best.
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you on the day God called you home.
A Golden Heart stopped beating, a Golden Voice at rest ~
God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

"...And remember, my sentimental friend, that a heart is not judged by how much YOU
love, but by how much YOU are loved by others...."

Here's a delightful WAV from Jimmy Buffett's "Miss You So Badly" (301KB)
I got a head full of feelin' higher, and an ear full of Patsy Cline ~
There is just no one who can touch her, hell, I'll hang on every line.
Oh, crazy how things happen, it's incredible but true:
Oh, the longer I'm gone the closer I feel to you....

My Buddy
by Walter Donaldson & Gus Kahn
as sung by Jerry Jeff WalkerNights are long since you went away,
I think of you all through the lonely days....
My buddy, my buddy, nobodys quite so true.
I miss your voice, miss the touch of your hand,
I miss the way your eyes saw things upon the land,
Oh buddy, oh buddy, your buddys missin you.
They tell me that lifes a book to study with lessons to find,
Well ours is written that wed part, you and I.
But buddies through the good days,
And pals if things would fall ~
Its just the gray days I miss you most of all...
Buddy, oh buddy, your buddys sure missin you.
Yes sir, they say that it must be in His plan,
So Ill be like a good boy and say I understand,
But buddy, your buddy will always have the blues ~
Oh buddy, oh buddy, your buddys missin you....

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush.
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there; I did not die.

A rose once grew where all could see, sheltered beside a garden wall,
And as the days passed swiftly by, it spread its branches, straight and tall.
One day, a beam of light shone through a crevice that had opened wide ~
The rose bent gently toward its warmth, then passed beyond to the other side....
Now, you who deeply feel its loss, be comforted; the rose blooms there,
Its beauty even greater now, nurtured by God's own loving care.

One evening before launching this site, I was looking for a lovely poem with which to start this section. I found the following Tennyson poem and posted it, because it reminded me of Patsy's final song, "I'll Sail My Ship Alone." I also love the line, "The flood may bear me far," because it's certainly what I hope to do for Patsy! A few days later, a Patsifan asked me if I knew that this poem was the one that Patsy's mother had chosen to have printed on Patsy's funeral program? No, I didn't... such synchronicity! What are the odds, of all the poems in the world, that I would have been guided to this one?
Crossing the Bar
by Alfred Lord
Tennyson
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For though from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.
