This is the pavilion that you approach at the crash site. The site itself is off to the right of this pavilion, down a steep embankment. Note the little gold mailbox, in which there is a book to sign. There are folks from everywhere around the world who've signed it. It did my heart good to see that.

These pics show the big stone with the engraving.

The pics below show the stones which mark where Patsy was found. This is about 3 feet behind the upper left hand corner of the big stone. I put the 2 yellow roses there from all of us who love her. It was difficult to put into words how it felt to be back there. Even writing about it now puts tears in my eyes, it was completely heartbreaking; I left roses and lots of prayers.

As for Camden, let me tell you how it was... I was taking my mom to Memphis to do all of the Elvis stuff, so of course; I had to stop at Camden. We got there at about 8:00 am. There was no one there but us, and it had been raining all the night before, and the sun was just breaking through the clouds when we got there.

My mom couldn't go down the steep embankment to the memorial stone, so I went alone. I was ok until I went back behind the stone, and saw the pile of rocks where Patsy was found. It's deep in the woods, it was so lush and green, and the silence was overwhelming. All I could hear was the rain still dripping from the leaves, and one bird singing. I was struck with total sadness, and a complete feeling of emptiness and loss. It brought home to me the brutality of death, and that this was more than just a singer who died. This was just a young girl; a wife, mom, sister, a loved one who had worked so hard, and lost her life in such a horrible way. It was a bit spooky as well. I had a sense of foreboding that I couldn't shake off, yet I felt that I had come as close to understanding this tragedy as I ever could. I knelt by the rocks, prayed for her, left some roses, and had myself a good cry.
