CAMDEN, TENNESSEE ~ SITE
OF AIRPLANE CRASH
|
This from our pal Terry down in Camden:
One piece of good news, the man who owns the property where the crash site is located, has agreed to give the property to the county, so that we can ensure that it is never disturbed in any way. The state of Tennessee tourism department has agreed to help us promote the 40th anniversary memorial weekend, and our hopes for any state help in the future depends upon the participation we receive on this weekend. This memorial service is as important to Patsy's fans as Graceland is to Elvis' fans. Thank you for all of your kind words and encouragement, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Also, the CofC is working on a permanent memorial, and information as to how you can help will be forthcoming in the near future.

Campaign to demonstrate ongoing interest in/support for Patsy Cline to the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development
The new commissioner of tourism is Susan Whitaker, and it is our understanding that she is a big supporter of our efforts to promote Patsy Cline in Tennessee. Visit their website here and send comments and suggestions to show your love and support!
Campaign to get Patsy into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
This is a new campaign, but an idea that is several years old. Let's launch off of Patsy's hitting #11 when VH-1 named its "100 Greatest Women in Rock" back in 1999. As Tom Reasoner writes:
I strongly feel that Patsy belongs in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame... for MANY reasons. I was upset that Brenda Lee got into the R&R Hall of Fame before Patsy. Of course, now that makes Brenda the first and only female singer in both the Country Music and R&R HoF's. It should have been Patsy first, not Brenda. I wrote to the R&R Hall of Fame several times in the past, but never got a response.... Hank Williams, Bob Wills, Johnny Cash, and Brenda Lee are among the Nashville artists in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Hoss, is there something wrong with that list? I simply don't understand why Brenda got that honor before Patsy.
Let's roll up our sleeves. This should not be difficult, so let's find out what's making it so. Contact information at this time is the following. If someone can get better contact info, please let us know!

New York, NY 10104Campaign to obtain commercial release of all of Patsy's recordings and videotapes
We would appreciate information as to the best way to proceed on this extremely important project. Is writing/emailing MCA the best way to begin? What are some specific requests we can/should make? Is there something fans can do, hands-on, to expedite this undertaking? Is there something fans should not do, which might only damage the cause? Expert, informed advice is appreciated.
